Whats new in MySpace IM?
Here is a brief version overview and links to changelog for MySpaceIM.
Customizing: Emoticons, Zaps, Avatars and Skins
MySpace heavily focuses on user customization, and MySpace IM is certainly no exception.
There are a total of 25 default Emoticons in MySpaceIM. They're probably not the best Emoticons around, but that's nothing to worry about as you can add your own custom Emoticons, including animated ones. To get some free emoticons or learn more, go to the myspace emoticons section.
Another cool feature is the ability to add a MySpace Zap. Zaps are very similar to MSN Messenger's winks and Yahoo Messenger's Audibles, to find out more about Zaps, check our section of free myspace zaps.
MySpace IM also delivers another great customization feature: Skins. With MySpaceIM skins, users can modify the complete look and feel of their MySpaceIM to suit their taste. To get some skins, visit the skins page.
Finally, MySpace IM also introduced a feature that outdoes other current IM applications, Animated Avatars.
As you can see, there are plenty of ways in which you can customize you MySpace IM looks and express yourself through your online presence.
More about MySpace IM
The MySpace IM client bears many similarities to Microsoft's veteran MSN/Live Messenger client. This young newcomer has been developing at a rapid pace, with its feature set steadily gaining on it's rivals, including Yahoo Messenger and AIM. New features have been added quite rapidly through the many BETA releases of the MySpace IM client, with some of them outdoing the competition (for example, the MySpace IM Skins).
It has been said that MySpace IM is not geared towards competing with the likes of Yahoo and Live Messenger, but is rather a tool aimed at current MySpace users, allowing them to communicate directly with one another and delivering real-time notifications such as new messages, friend requests, etc.
In conclusion, while it does not offer any features that would attract non-MySpace users to download the client and convert their friends, its most certainly an excellent communication tool for current MySpace users.
